Overview

The capital to fund the Shift Foundation comes from four sources: founding investors, individual investors, institutional investors and operations funders.

Founding investors are both individuals and organisations who helped create the Shift Foundation by providing in excess of $750,000 in pro-bono support alone. Individual investors are those who have provided resources to the organisation and its initiatives as private individuals and/or in conjunction with their private foundation. Institutional investors, as the name implies, are corporate sponsors and philanthropic foundations and funds that contribute resources to the Shift Foundation to advance its mission and help implement its strategic initiatives. Operations funders have provided capital to cover the formation and building of the organisation and all the operational costs from its inception.

For individual and institutional investors, the Shift Foundation offers a more accountable return on their philanthropic investments. It accommodates their desire for more direct involvement, their thirst for knowledge about how to give more effectively and their interest in influencing broader improvements in transforming the culture of philanthropy both within Australia and around the world. Those who give to the Shift Foundation and its strategic initiatives are thinking more deeply about issues of change at all levels of human experience – in self, behaviour, cultures and systems.

Shift Foundation investors do not seek to achieve a financial return on the money they contribute. Instead, they are part of an emerging global community of engaged philanthropists and social investors who support the growth and development of young leaders from around the world.
